La banda E Street ha durado más de cuarenta años con una identidad independiente y muy individualizada. Los álbumes más esenciales de la carrera de Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The River, Born in the USA, The Rising - están construidos en torno al grupo. Sin embargo, sólo cuatro álbumes y un EP, todos en directo excepto una antología, llevan el nombre del grupo en el lomo.
