Starting as a pioneer rock journalist in the mid-Sixties, Landau contributed to the earliest rock publications, including Crawdaddy! The Phoenix and Rolling Stone. Later, Landau became a long-time co-producer and manager of Springsteen.

Jon Landau is best known as one of the great rock & roll managers – but that is his third career. Before he was a manager, he was a record producer. Before he was a producer, he was a music journalist. All three qualify him for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Landau was one of the most important and influential of the early rock critics.
